A common technique of craftsman in the 18th & 19th century would be to make door frames out of multiple layers of boards. Each board would be installed separately until the desired function was achieved. Frequently, the boards would be profiled so the jambset actually became part of the trim. At Select Door we can simplify the process yet still produce desired trim affect. We machine the profile on a rabbeted jamb then assemble the legs and head with mitered joints for a continuous profile around the jamb edge. An efficient cost effective means having an ornate detail without expensive on site labor.
